3 NPA rebels yield in Isabela
CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, Isabela—Three former top New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered to Army soldiers in Santiago City and San Pablo town in Isabela province, the military said Monday, July 4.
Army Captain Rigor Pamittan, 5th Infantry Division spokesperson and public affairs chief, identified the surrenderers as “Ka Lerio,” former secretary of the NPA Central Front Isabela; “Ka Del,” intelligence officer and squad leader of the rebel group’s Squad Dos; and “Ka Victor,” Squad Uno member, all belonging to the Komiteng Probinsyang Isabela-Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley.
Pamittan said the returnees were said to be “remnants” of the rebels operating in central and northern Isabela.
The rebels claimed that they also buried a fellow rebel who allegedly got sick and died in the coastal town of Maconacon in Isabela.
