BACOLOD CITY – The Provincial Legal Office of Negros Occidental has found enough basis to elevate the administrative cases filed against three doctors and two staff members to the Investigation Committee for Public Health Workers.
However, Provincial Legal Officer Alberto Nellas Jr. on Thursday, June 30, said he cannot divulge more details about their recommendations since it will be up to the Investigation Committee for Public Health Workers headed by provincial health officer, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, to decide whether the persons involved should be formally charged.
“Based on the allegations, there is basis to go on with the investigation,” Nellas said.
If the respondents are found guilty of grave misconduct, the penalty could be dismissal from the service.
The investigation stemmed from patients’ complaints filed at the Department of Health which forwarded the cases to the provincial government for action.
Two doctors at the Ignacio L. Arroyo Memorial District Hospital in Isabela were accused of maltreating a patient.
Meanwhile, a doctor and two staff members at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City were also investigated for alleged corrupt practices involving medical supplies.
