Pagasa: Rainy in parts of Luzon due to Tropical Depression ‘Domeng’

MANILA, Philippines — A rainy Friday is expected in the western parts of Central and Southern Luzon due to tropical depression “Domeng” and severe tropical storm Chaba (formerly “Caloy”) which will enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

In its latest bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Domeng” was located at 950 km east of extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Pagasa said “Domeng” is forecast to gradually accelerate north-northwestward over the next three days and remain far from the Philippine landmass until it eventually exits the Philippine area responsibility on Saturday.

“On the forecast track, ‘Domeng’ may exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday morning or afternoon. Outside the PAR region, the tropical cyclone is forecast to pass very close or make landfall in the vicinity of the Ryukyu Islands on Saturday afternoon or evening,” Pagasa said in its early morning bulletin.

Pagasa said no tropical cyclone wind signal is up over any part of the country.

A gale warning remains in effect over the western seaboard of Luzon.

“These conditions may be risky for those using small seacraft. Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions,” Pagasa said.
