MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP), as of Thursday morning, said there are no serious threats to the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“As of this morning, we have not monitored any credible serious threat,” PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo told ANC in an interview.

Fajardo said all security plans and preparations for Marcos’ inauguration are in place, including police officers tasked to man designated areas where groups can stage their protest actions.

“Effective 12 midnight, all our PNP personnel together with the contingent from AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) and Philippine Coast Guard and other forces are already in place in their designated areas,” she said.

Marcos will take his oath of office at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila.

Aside from security preparations in Manila, Fajardo said the PNP is also conducting anti-criminality check-points at entry points going to Metro Manila, particularly in Central Luzon and Southern Tagalog.

“We are also providing security in the Davao region because we expect our outgoing president will be arriving there after the event in Malacañang,” she added.

Fajardo, meanwhile, advised those planning to personally witness Marcos’ inauguration not to bring bags.

“If this cannot be done, make sure that your bags are transparent and avoid bringing water canisters,” she added, saying these will be subject to inspection.

She also reminded attendees that police will impose lockdown at the National Museum at around 10 a.m. prior to the arrival of the President-elect.
