COVID-19 active cases in PH tops 7,000 as DOH logs 781 new infections

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 tracker of the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 781 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, raising the country’s active cases to 7,202.

The new cases were higher than the average number of infections recorded from June 20-26, which was at 662.

Overall, the country’s confirmed COVID-19 cases hit 3,703,100 as of June 29, including 3,635,356 recoveries and 60,542 deaths.

Metro Manila was still leading the list of regions with the most number of registered new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks with 4,102. It is trailed by Calabarzon with 1,433 cases, and Western Visayas with 746.

Quezon City tops the list of cities with the most reported cases at 869, followed by Manila with 539 and Makati City with 513.

The DOH’s COVID-19 tracker also showed that a total of 22,049 people have been tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday, June 28.

As of June 26, the DOH has identified Quezon City, Marikina City, Pasig City, San Juan City, and Pateros Municipality as areas with “moderate risk” for COVID-19 transmission.
