All set for Sonsona, Fulgencio weigh-in this Friday

FORMER WBO superflyweight champion Marvin “The Marvelous” Sonsona and his Puerto Rican opponent Carlos “El Flaco” Fulgencio will meet each other for the first time this Friday in the official weigh-in and final presscon of the “Pinoy Knockout” at the newly built J Center Mall in Mandaue City.

Sonsona and Fulgencio will fight in the main event of “Pinoy Knockout” of Samson Gello-ani’s SGG Promotions to be held this Saturday night at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

This will serve as Sonsona’s second comeback bout after a year of absence following his loss to Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. in their WBO superbantamweight bout in 2010. Sonsona came back with a vengeance by beating Mexican Carlos Jacobo at the Hoops Dome last year.

In the card’s co-main event, undefeated WBO Asia Pacific Youth Flyweight champion Froilan “The Sniper” Saludar (14-0,11KOs,1draw) will face Mexican Alejandro Morales (13-1, 7KOs for the BO World Youth Flyweight crown.

FEATURED STORIES

In the supporting main event, RP No. 1 contender Dan Nazareno will meet RP No. 2 Adones Cabalquinto for the Philippine Junior Welterweight title while Jerwin Ancajas will defend his WBO Asia Pacific Youth Super flyweight belt against Mark Anthony Geraldo.

Undercard bouts pit Edward Penerio of Ilo-Ilo vs. Manila’s Albert Alcoy; Cebuano Virgilio Silvano vs. Jay-R Calunsad of Misamis Occidental; Eman Labanza of Mandaue City vs. General Santos’ Ernie Sanchez while Jordan Catubay of Zamboanga will fight Jerome Baja of Cebu.

The opening bout will pit Jack Tepora of Cebu vs. Dipolog’s Michael Dopol.
