Cebuanos Siso, Abarquez to see action in Mayor Sara Duterte national tennis

CEBUANOS Sally Mae Siso and Irael “RJ” Abarquez will be joining the Philippine’s top 8 men and women netters in the 2nd Mayor “Inday” Sara Duterte National Men and Women Invitational Tennis Championship which gets underway in Davao City today until March 18.
The country’s best will be competing in singles, doubles and mixed events.
Both Siso and Abarquez are seeded 7th.
In the singles, Siso will open against the country’s No.1 Clarice Patrimonio.
Both players have faced each other several with Patrimonio winning only once in last year’s Philippine National Games in Bacolod.
Despite this, Siso will not be complacent and said “I will still be doing my best against her.”
For the women’s doubles, Siso will partner with No. 2 Marinel Rudas. Their first assignment today will be against Patrimonio and No. 5 Macy Gonzales.
In the mixed doubles, Siso will join No. 2 Elbert Anasta against No. 3 Patrick John Tierro and Gonzales.
Abarquez, on the other hand, will go up against Tierro for his singles match. He will then pair up with Tierro in men’s double against Anasta and No. 4 Ralph Kevin Barte.
In the mixed doubles, Abarquez will pair with No. 4 Alyssa Labay against No.1 Johnny Arcilla and No.8 Nikki Arandia.
The singles will be played in the usual knockout format while the doubles events will follow the twice-to-beat format.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
