Gems face Waves in D-League today

THE brand new backcourt of the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems will face its first test today when they take on the Boracay Rum Waves in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Lester Alvarez, Raymond Maconcido and Bacon Austria now man the guard duties of the Gems to make up for the loss of Jai Reyes and Terrence Romeo. Reyes is now playing in the ASEAN Basketball League while Romeo was among five players barred from the league by their school team Far Eastern University until after the UAAP season is over.
The Gems also bulked up their frontcourt with the addition of Janus Lozada and Jeckster Apinan.
Also making its debut today are Café France and Erase Plantcenta, one of two new teams which joined the league this conference. The Café France-Erase Plantcenta match-up is scheduled at 2 p.m. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
