Vote-buying raps filed vs Biñan officials

A vote-buying complaint has been filed with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) against reelected Biñan City Rep. Marlyn Alonte-Naguiat, Mayor Walfredo Dimaguila Jr. and Vice Mayor Angelo Alonte.

In the complaint filed on Thursday, defeated Biñan congressional candidate Michael Yatco and two others presented testimonies from at least 33 witnesses as well as footage and photos to allege “massive vote buying” before and after the May 9 elections.

Quoting witnesses, Yatco’s lawyers said the reelected Biñan officials committed vote buying in at least 14 out of 24 barangays.

One of the witnesses also reported that barangay leaders went from house to house on the eve of May 9 to hand out P500 to P600 in cash to certain voters in their list. —DONA Z. PAZZIBUGAN
