Archdiocese of Cebu's new bishop is Msgr. Ruben Labajo

CEBU CITY — The Archdiocese of Cebu has another bishop.

Pope Francis has elevated Msgr. Ruben Labajo to the Order of Bishops, according to a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Archdiocese of Cebu on Thursday.

Labajo will serve as auxiliary bishop of Cebu.

He will join Auxiliary Bishop Midyphil Billones and Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma in running the largest archdiocese in the country with about 400 diocesan priests, 200 others from various religious congregations, and about four million lay Catholics.

Before his appointment, Labajo served as rector of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral and was transferred to St. Francis of Assisi in Balamban town, Cebu where he served as the team moderator.

He was also the vicar general of the archdiocese.
