MANILA, Philippines — Domestic helpers in Metro Manila will be entitled to a minimum monthly wage of P6,000, from the current P5,000, based on the order of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) estimates that were are about 200,000 domestic helpers in the capital region, about 60 percent of whom live in their employers’ homes.

Excluding Metro Manila, the new minimum pay for domestic helpers ranges from P3,500 in the Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao to P5,500 in Central Visayas.
