ORMOC CITY — A man was gunned down in what police considered a shootout in Barangay Sagkahan, Carigara town, Leyte on Tuesday, June 21.

Edward Rojas was rushed to the hospital but did not make it alive due to several gunshot wounds on his body.

Recovered from the suspect were a bundle of money, a caliber .45 pistol, and shabu (methamphetamine) worth P25,000, said Major Ambrosio Demain, chief of the Carigara Police station.

Based on the investigation, the suspect was supposed to deliver illegal drugs to a police poseur buyer.

When he sensed that he was dealing with a policeman, the suspect immediately boarded his motorcycle and headed to a shrubbery portion of the barangay.

When the suspect was cornered, he allegedly pulled out a firearm and put up a gunfight with the police.
