MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) embedded within the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring overcast skies and scattered rains in several areas across the country, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), LPA-induced weather is expected in Cagayan and Quezon, while both LPA and ITCZ are seen to affect Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Eastern Visayas, Davao Region, and Caraga.
While rains may persist in the said areas throughout the day, weather specialist Grace Castañeda assured that it is unlikely for this LPA, last spotted off Puerto Princesa in Palawan, to develop into a tropical depression.
“Nananatiling mababa ‘yong tsansa nito na maging bagyo at posibleng malusaw na lamang sa susunod na 24 to 48 hours. Ngunit ine-expect pa rin natin ngayong araw na magdudulot ito ng mga pag-ulan,” she said in an early morning forecast.
(The chances of this progressing into a storm remain low as it is expected to dissipate within the next 24 to 48 hours, but we’re still expecting it to cause rains in parts of the country.)
On the other hand, the state weather bureau forecasted fair weather conditions with likelihood of rain in the remaining areas of the country, including Metro Manila.
“Ine-expect natin na mainit pa rin ‘yong panahon na ating mararanasan at mas mataas pa rin ‘yong tsansa ng mga pag-ulan, pagkulog, at pagkidlat lalong lalo na ‘yan sa hapon at gabi,” Castañeda further noted.
(We’re still expecting hot and humid weather with high chances of rains, thunderstorms, and lightning, especially in the afternoon and evening.)
