LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—The Department of Health (DOH) in the Ilocos region said Monday that 42 new COVID-19 cases were reported between June 12 and 18.

The figure brought the daily average number of infections to six, which was 50 percent higher than those reported in the previous week, DOH said.

Three of the 42 new cases were severe and critical.

The healthcare utilization rate in the region was at a “safe” level, with 59 of the 227 intensive care unit (ICU) beds dedicated to COVID-19 patients occupied.

A total of 161, or 10 percent of the 1555 non-ICU beds, are also in use, the DOH added.

The regional DOH also verified that 60 people had died due to COVID-19 last week.

At least 11,834 individuals received from June 12 to 18 their COVID-19 vaccine boost shots, accounting for 22.75 percent of the 3,680,936 fully vaccinated individuals in the region, DOH said.
