LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — The number of daily average COVID-19 cases in the Ilocos region slightly rose between June 5 and 11, data from the regional Department of Health (DOH) showed Monday.

At least 28 new COVID-19 cases were added to the regional tally last week, increasing the average case count by 75 percent, or four cases a day, compared with the two average daily cases reported from May 29 to June 4, the DOH said.

The average daily attack rate – or the average number of new cases during a period out of every 100,000 individuals – was below one in all of the provinces in the region, according to the DOH COVID-19 tracker.

The healthcare utilization rate in the region remained at a “safe” level, with data showing that at least 42, or 18 percent of the 230 ICU (intensive care unit) beds dedicated to COVID-19 patients, are in use.

At least 158 of the 1,577 non-ICU beds are occupied, accounting for 10 percent.

Only one COVID-19 patient is being treated as a severe and critical case in a hospital in the region.

The same data showed that from June 5-11, the DOH also verified at least 94 deaths due to COVID-19.

Records from the DOH also showed that at least 85 percent of the over 4.3 million target individuals had already been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with 825,734 receiving their booster shots already. INQ
