MANILA, Philippines — Former Commission on Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon on Tuesday filed before the Quezon City Prosecution Office a libel and unjust vexation complaints against Ronald Cardema, the current National Youth Commission chair who was also disqualified as representative of the Duterte Youth party list in 2019.
“I am filing a complaint for libel and against Ronald Cardema, who is a government official… I also filed a complaint against him for unjust vexation,” Guanzon said in a Facebook live stream before filing the complaint.
INQUIRER.net reached Cardema for comment but has yet to respond as of posting.
Duterte Youth was criticized for making several late substitutions even after the May 2019 elections.
Cardema was substituted as the top nominee of Duterte Youth but was later disqualified for being ineligible because of his age.
As a commissioner, Guanzon opposed Cardema as a substitute nominee.
Guanzon also sits as the first nominee of winning party-list group P3PWD through substitution.
“Whether Cardema likes it or not, I will be a congresswoman,” Guanzon said.
