DOH records 3,051 COVID-19 infections from June 13 to 19
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said it has recorded a total of 3,051 infections from June 13 to 19, almost double the number recorded in the previous week.
According to the DOH in its weekly report, the new cases translated to an average of 436 daily cases, a whopping 82 percent higher than the average number of infections in the previous week at 240 cases per day.
However, most of the new recorded cases were mild infections as only 15 individuals or 0.50 percent of the total new cases were tagged as severe or critical.
Meanwhile, six new deaths were added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll during this period — all of which, however, were backlogs from as early as March 2021 to January 2022.
With this, the total number of severe or critical cases is currently at 554 or 10.2 percent of the total COVID-19 admissions.
Article continues after this advertisementDespite more cases being recorded, the non-ICU-bed utilization rate decreased from 20.3 percent the previous week to 18.2 percent, as well as the ICU-bed utilization rate which decreased from the previous week’s 16.6 percent to 14.3 percent.
Article continues after this advertisementIn terms of vaccination, fully-vaccinated individuals are now at 70,032,274 (77.81 percent of the target population) after 272,563 additional individuals were vaccinated in the past week.
On the other hand, individuals with booster shots totaled 14,853,657 after the government in0culated 327,009 additional individuals in the same period.
Based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker on its website, the COVID-19 caseload is currently at 3,696,264 nationwide, as of June 19, with 3,631,268 recoveries and 60,467 deaths.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire previously raised the possibility of escalating the COVID alert system to Level 2 amid a slight increase in COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Despite acknowledging a rise in cases, the Department of Health (DOH) said it did not see evidence of another surge.
