Briones congratulates successor Sara Duterte on inauguration as VP
MANILA, Philippines — Outgoing Education Secretary Leonor Briones on Sunday congratulated Vice President-elect Sara Duterte on her inauguration as Vice President of the Philippines.
Duterte is set to succeed Briones in leading the Department of Education (DepEd) under the administration of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.
“Together with the entire Department of Education (DepEd) family, I congratulate you on your inauguration on Sunday, June 19, 2022, as the new Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines,” said Briones in a statement.
Briones noted the number of votes Duterte received in the recently held elections, adding that it is a “ testament to the nation’s trust in your vision and leadership to lead the country.”
She also added that she looks forward to turning over the leadership of the country’s education department.

Duterte is scheduled to take her oath of office on Sunday at the San Pedro Square in Davao City.
