Semestral short film festival at UP on Friday

ANOTHER stream of independent short films will be shown at the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu in Lahug, Cebu City on Friday, March 16.

The UP Cebu Humanities 1 classes will have their semestral short film festival titled “Zoom in … Zoom out” at the UP Cebu Conference Hall at 6 p.m. This semester’s films will have themes revolving around social issues and Filipino values.

According to Humanities 1 Prof. Ligaya Visaya Rabago, the purpose of the festival is to use film as “a medium for social transformation. She added that, “we are agents of change.”

The eleven short films will be judged by Greg Lloren, a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and a creative director; and Blessie Gocatano, a program director and an events coordinator.

FEATURED STORIES

Awards like best picture, best in cinematography and best director will be given out during the festival night.

Apart from the film festival, there will also be paintings on different surfaces and sculptures by the students that will be exhibited outside the venue.

Everyone is invited to attend and witness the different art forms.
