MANILA, Philippines — Private hospitals whose health workers are having problems getting their One COVID-19 Allowance (OCA) may coordinate with the Centers for Health Development for the fast distribution of the benefits, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
But private hospitals should first do a “full accounting” of previous funds disbursed for benefits of health workers to claim the OCA. Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines president Dr. Jose de Grano said some health workers in private hospitals have yet to receive their OCA.
The OCA has an allocation of P50 billion in the 2022 budget, but only P7.9 billion has been approved. The DOH said it had released P86.5 million in OCA to 54 health facilities since January.
Under OCA, health workers in areas identified as high-risk are entitled to receive P9,000 a month, while those in moderate and low-risk areas shall get P6,000 and P3,000, respectively.
