PDEA nabs man in Leyte for keeping P374,000 worth of 'shabu'

ORMOC CITY — Authorities arrested a man over the weekend for allegedly keeping at least P374,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) in Barangay Talisayan, Albuera town in Leyte.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Eastern Visayas Director Edgar Jubay identified the suspect as Alfredo Elegio II. He was collared 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, June 12.

Elegio, in an interview, said the illegal drugs were left to him by a friend last month.

Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were being prepared by the PDEA against the suspect, who is temporarily detained at the Albuera Police Station.
