MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte will attend the oath-taking of his daughter, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio, in Davao City on Sunday.

This information was validated by Duterte-Carpio’s spokesperson, Liloan town Mayor Christina Frasco.

“President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has confirmed his attendance at the Inauguration of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte,” Frasco said in a text message to INQUIRER.net on Monday.

Duterte-Carpio will be inaugurated at San Pedro Square in Davao City, where she is the outgoing mayor, on June 19.

The event will begin with a Thanksgiving Mass that will be celebrated by Archbishop Romulo Valles in the San Pedro Cathedral at 3 p.m.

Shortly after, Supreme Court Justice Ramon Paul Hernando is expected to administer Duterte-Carpio’s oath as the 15th vice president of the Republic of the Philippines.

Duterte-Carpio won the 2022 presidential race after garnering more than 32 million votes. Aside from being the Vice President, Duterte-Carpio will also serve as education secretary under the administration of her running mate, President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Under the 1987 Constitution, the country’s new president and vice president should assume office by noon of June 30.
