MARIVELES, Bataan — A fire hit a factory building in the Freeport Area of Bataan Friday night (June 10) and engulfed the entire third floor occupied by a top exporter of quality bags and accessories to the United States and Europe.
The Authority of Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) is investigating the fire that hit the industrial area before 8 p.m. which left still undetermined losses.
AFAB Administrator Emmanuel Pineda said his office will create a probe team to find out the cause of the less than three-hour blaze that destroyed the entire third floor of standard factory building no. 3 being occupied by DLX Bags Phils. Inc.
“We will see who will be accountable. So for now, no one is allowed to go inside while the investigation is being conducted by our team,” Pineda said.
Around 2,000 workers were affected by the fire. No one was reported injured in the incident as it was declared under control at around 10 p.m.
Police Major Emelito dela Cruz, Mariveles police chief, said the fire reportedly originated from the unattended oven used to dry leather goods.
“It might have overheated,” Dela Cruz said in his report.
