Drug suspect killed; P61 million 'shabu' seized in Parañaque City buy-bust

MANILA, Philippines — Police said a drug suspect was killed after resisting arrest during a recent buy-bust operation in Parañaque City, which also yielded P61.2 million worth of crystal meth or “shabu.”

The Philippine National Police-Public Information Office (PNP-PIO) said Wednesday that suspect Jose Mari Ordiales alias “Roger” was killed while his companion, a certain Arturo Santos Jr. alias “Pugo”, was able to escape and is now the subject of a pursuit operation.

The two allegedly resisted arrest leading to a brief gunfight.

The PNP-PIO said the sting operation against Ordiales and Santos was carried out by a composite team of police officers, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)  agents, and Barangay Don Galo authorities on Tuesday night.

Aside from the estimated 9-kilogram shabu, operatives likewise recovered a .45 caliber pistol from the scene, according to police.
