Active COVID-19 cases in Pampanga almost triple in just one week

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – The number of active COVID-19 cases in Pampanga has increased from only seven on May 29 to 19 cases on June 5, data from the provincial government showed on Tuesday, June 7.

The latest bulletin showed that 13 of Pampanga’s 21 localities remained free of COVID-19.

These include the town of Magalang in the first district; Lubao, Porac, Sasmuan, and Santa Rita towns in the second district; Bacolor and Mexico towns in the third district; and Apalit, Macabebe, Masantol, San Simon, Santo Tomas and San Luis towns in the fourth district.

The localities with active COVID-19 cases include Mabalacat City (2), Floridablanca town (1), Guagua (3), Arayat (1), City of San Fernando (7), Santa Ana (2), Candaba (1) and Minalin (1).

The province has recorded a total of 56,701 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic in 2020. Of these, 54,093 had recovered while 2,590 had died.

Angeles City, a highly urbanized city which is independent of Pampanga, has eight active cases based on the city government’s latest update on June 6.

A total of 14,703 COVID-019 cases have been recorded in the city since 2020. Of this figure, 14,153 had recovered while 542 had died.
