MANILA, Philippines — The Mindanao region is a safe tourism destination, assured the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), saying measures are in place to provide tourists with safe and memorable travel experience in the southern part of the country.
“[P]eace talks [are] continually being done in the region. The military, national and local law enforcement are doing their best to keep our destinations safe,” said Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones, chief operating officer of TPB.
“Local governments are also working with NGOs (nongovernmental organizations) and international organizations to make their destinations more sustainable and inclusive,” she added.
According to her, there are several destinations in Mindanao that tourists, local and international alike, could enjoy. These include the shores of Davao, the sand bars and waterfalls of Camiguin, and adventures in Cagayan de Oro, Velasco-Allones said.
