MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Sunday said that 14 pay hikes are scheduled to take effect in the month of June.
According to Labor Sec. Silvestre Bello III in a statement, this comes after 14 regional wage boards have already issued their respective wage orders granting pay hikes ranging between P30 and P110.
The earliest wage hike took effect in Metro Manila on Saturday, June 4, with a P33 hike, increasing the wage rate to P570 for workers in the non-agriculture sector and P533 for those in the agriculture sector.
Meanwhile, P50 and P60 pay hikes are also set to be implemented in Cordillera Administrative Region in two tranches on June 14 and January 1, 2023, while the salary of house helpers also increased from P500 to P1,500, bringing the new minimum wage of domestic workers in the region to P4,500.
Meanwhile in the region of Caraga, a new daily minimum wage rate of P350 shall take effect in Butuan City and the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Surigao del Sur on June 6; while the wage increase in the provinces of Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, including Siargao Islands will be implemented in two tranches–one on June 6 and another on September 1.
The rest of the regions set to receive wage hikes are the following:
- Ilocos Region – P60 and P90 in two tranches starting June 8, domestic workers’ minimum wage increased to P5,000.
- Cagayan Valley – Minimum wage rate increased to P400 to P420 in two to three tranches starting June 6, domestic workers’ minimum wage increased to P5,000
- Central Luzon – P40 wage hike in two tranches in June
- Calabarzon – Minimum wage rate increased to P390 to P470 in non-agriculture; P350 to P429 in agriculture; P350 in retail and service establishments with no more than 10 workers.
- Mimaropa – P35 wage hike starting June 10; domestic workers’ minimum wage now at P4,500
- Bicol – P55 wage hike in two tranches, June 18 and December 1; domestic workers’ minimum wage now at P4,000
- Western Visayas – Minimum wage rate now at P410 to P450 starting June 5; domestic workers’ minimum wage now at P4,000
- Central Visayas – Minimum wage rate now at P382 to P435 starting June 14; domestic workers’ minimum wage now at P5,500 in chartered cities, first-class municipalities, P4,500 in others
- Central Mindanao – P25 and P22 wage hike on June 18, December 16
- Davao Region – P47 wage hike starting June 19; domestic workers’ minimum wage at P4,500
- Soccsksargen – P32 wage hike in two tranches on June 9 and September 1
Bello for his part thanked the wage boards for “resolving with dispatch the petitions for wage adjustments, adding that minimum wage earners, including domestic workers, are expected to benefit from a series of pay hikes across the regions starting this month and until early next year. “
