MANILA, Philippines — To advocate for biking as a practical and sustainable means of transportation, the Taguig City local government has launched a “Bicycle Loop Challenge” for its cycling citizens until Sunday.
“The purpose of this event is to highlight bicycling as the city’s primary method of transportation and to encourage citizens who are interested in using bicycles for commuting, fitness, or recreation to now pedal their way through biking,” Taguig Mobility Office Head Will Mariano said Saturday.

Aside from opening the Beginner’s Bike Trail in Lower Bicutan to the cycling public, the local government organized the challenge where participants are called to complete the 25-kilometer main biking loop extending from Bonifacio Global City to Barangay Upper Bicutan.
For those who opt for a shorter ride, four mini loops were set up following these routes: Arca to Lakeshore (8.68km), FTI to Bicutan (7.67km), Cayetano to Venice (9.53km), and around Fort Bonifacio (6.75km).
The Taguig City local government in 2020 passed the Bike-Friendly Ordinance which is a step forward in its efforts to promote biking as a way to “champion healthy and sustainable living.”
Since then, it has launched several initiatives to further develop the cycling ecosystem in the city.
