UV bags first passerelle crown

THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas made school history as it captured its first title in the Under-15 or Passerelle division in Cebu following its 69-61 conquest of Sacred Heart-Ateneo de Cebu in the championship game of the 16-under division of the 2012 ThreeSixty Pharmacy Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club Cebu basketball court at the Cebu Business Park.

UV proved that it was not just a one-trick pony as it played without Cesafi juniors MVP Paul Desiderio.

Gerald Fernandez and Ralph Dinolan had 12 and 11 points, respectively, to lead a balanced attack that saw 13 players scoring for UV. Eman Malazarte led SHS-AdC with 17 while Janjan Jaboneta added 15.

In other matches, SHS-AdC A finished in third place in the 13-under division A after they beat the University of San Carlos-South A, 30-29. Sotero B. Cabahug Forum for Literacy topped USC South-B, 53-22, for third place in division B.

Meanwhile, Don Bosco-B got back at UV-B, 37-24, to win the 16-under division B title. And in 19-under action, USC/RDAK overcame Adgers Sportswear, 63-58, while the CVIRAA High School team debuted with a big 70-28 win over Symmetry Fitness Center/USJR. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
