MANILA, Philippines — Incoming Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) chief Trixie Cruz-Angeles is pushing for the accreditation of bloggers to cover Malacañang press briefings.

The accreditation of bloggers is among the priorities of the incoming PCOO, Cruz-Angeles said Wednesday.

“We are pushing for the accreditation of bloggers to be invited to some of the briefings, especially those conducted by the President-elect,” Cruz-Angeles said in a public briefing.

She added that they are looking to hold Palace briefings once to twice a week, or “more if needed.”

“The regular once a week are for the updates on pending issues and then possibly a second one if there are issues that need to be addressed immediately. We’re not going to limit it, of course, if it is necessary we will have more briefings but other than that the plan is one or two a week,” she said.

Cruz-Angeles, meanwhile, was not able to give a definitive answer when asked if all journalists and media groups will be allowed to be physically present to cover events graced by Marcos.

“I think we’ll have to take a look at existing policies first and determine and make a decision later on as to how appropriate they are for the current time. We’ll have to wait and see pending a review of all existing policies regarding the coverage in Malacañang,” she said.

PCOO projects

The incoming PCOO will also assess the pending projects of the agency and will decide whether some will be prioritized or be kept in the back burner.

They are also looking to “opening up discourse and look at issues of disinformation.”

“There are no final plans yet for any particular project, just that these issues are things that we are looking at to consider when prioritizing projects for the PCOO,” she said.
