MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) spotted in the vicinity of Coron, Palawan will bring rains in parts of Luzon on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its early morning forecast.

According to the state weather bureau, LPA-induced cloudy skies with intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, and Romblon.

While the LPA only has a slim chance of progressing into a tropical depression, Pagasa still warned residents in these areas for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

“Nananatiling mababa ‘yong tsansa nito na maging bagyo at ayon sa ating latest analysis, posible na malusaw na lamang ito ngayong araw,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda stressed.

(Chances of this developing into a storm remain low and according to our latest analysis, it may dissipate within the day.)

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau forecasted generally fair weather to prevail in the rest of the country, including Metro Manila. Localized thunderstorms, however, may still trigger isolated rain showers throughout the day.

No gale warning has been raised over the country’s seaboards, Castañeda added.
