Man yields after confessing to rape-slay of girl in Santiago City
SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela –– Bothered by his conscience, a 22-year-old man in this city surrendered Monday to authorities and confessed to raping and killing a 10-year-old girl recently, police said.
Lt. Col. Efren Fernandez II, Cagayan Valley police spokesperson, said Mark Alvin Pariawan of Malvar village was indicted for rape with homicide.
Pariawan on Sunday turned himself in to Malvar village chief Manuel Sonny Santiago II and issued his extra-judicial confession through lawyer Lex Aquino and Police Staff Sgt. Hazel Krislie Ignacio.
Pariawan said he raped the girl and stabbed her multiple times before dumping her body in a river in Baluarte village.
The girl’s body was discovered on May 24 by a villager.
Autopsy records showed the victim suffered stab wounds and lacerations to her private parts.
