ANGELES CITY –– The city government will close its COVID-19 vaccination site at the City College of Angeles on June 20 as it designates its six rural health units (RHUs) as the new vaccination sites for residents of the 33 villages.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said in a statement on Tuesday, May 31, that decentralized vaccination sites would be more accessible to city residents.

He said vaccinations at the RHUs would be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 21.

Irish Calaguas, who manages this city’s vaccination drive, said the RHUs are in Sto. Domingo, Lourdes Northwest, Lourdes Sur East, Balibago, Pandan, and Pulung Cacutud villages.

“Mayor Lazatin wants to bring the vaccines closer and more accessible to Angeleños,” she said.

The city government urges unvaccinated, partially vaccinated individuals or those needing a booster shot to register with the RHU nearest their residences.

As of May 19, the city government said 367,719 residents, comprising about 79.3 percent of this city’s total population, based on the 2020 census, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Some 76,042 residents, or only 16.4 percent of the city’s population, have received booster shots.

On Monday, this city registered two new COVID-19 cases—one in Balibago village and another in Pulung Bulu—bringing to five the city’s active COVID-19 patients.

The city government has recorded 14,698 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in 2020. Of these, 14,151 patients have recovered, while 542 have died.
