An unidentified gunman shot and killed a local businessman on Monday afternoon (May 30) in Candelaria town in Quezon province, report said Tuesday.

LUCENA CITY – An unidentified gunman shot and killed a local businessman on Monday afternoon (May 30) in Candelaria town in Quezon province, report said Tuesday.

Quezon police reported that Romeo Ravano, 46, a resident of the locality, was sitting on his parked motorcycle on the side of the road when the gunman, armed with a caliber 9mm pistol, appeared and repeatedly shot him at 4:30 p.m. in Barangay (village) Sta. Catalina Sur.

The killer escaped while Ravano died on the spot, the police said.

Investigators found two spent shells at the scene of the crime.

Police Corporal Michael Arellano, the case investigator, said they are facing a blank wall as Ravano had no police record.

“He was just engaged in chicken buy-and-sell business,” Arellano said in a phone Tuesday.

The police are conducting further investigations to unmask the gunman and establish the motive behind the killing.
