PH posts 1,317 total new infections from May 23 to 29
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 1,317 total infections of COVID-19 from May 23 to May 29, slightly higher than the number recorded the previous week.
According to the DOH’s latest weekly report on Monday, these new cases were composed of a daily average of 188 cases per day — 8.8 percent higher than the past week’s average of 173.
Only 12 or 0.91 percent of these new cases, however, were classified as severe or critical. No deaths were also recorded in the said week.
Currently, 679 individuals (12.3 percent of total COVID-19 admissions) suffer from critical or severe cases of COVID-19, as shown in the weekly report.
The DOH report also showed that the healthcare utilization rate slightly decreased from the previous week’s 17.4 percent to 17.2 percent, ICU-bed utilization, however, increased from 15.4 percent to 16.8 percent.
Article continues after this advertisementIn terms of vaccination, fully vaccinated individuals are now at 69,302,485 (77 percent of the target population) after 259,947 additional individuals were vaccinated in the past week.
Article continues after this advertisementOn the other hand, individuals with booster shots now total 14,100,743 after 239,592 additional individuals were inoculated in the same period.
Based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker on its website, total cases are currently at 3,690,254 as of May 29, with active cases sitting at 2,434, recoveries at 3,627,365, and 60,455 deaths.
