LOOK: Flames consume houses in Mandaluyong City

MANILA, Philippines — Fire broke out at a residential area in Mandaluyong City on Monday afternoon, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.

First alarm was raised at 2:58 p.m. as flames ravaged the cluster of houses made of light materials in  Barangay Barangka Ibaba, which is right beside the Pasig River.

Fire intensified less than an hour later., raising the alert to second alarm by 3:18 p.m.

The BFP, however, said it was declared under control at 3:42 p.m. as firefighters and rescuers responded to the scene. By 4:44 p.m., the BFP said the fire was officially announced extinguished after 9,750 gallons of water from 10 fire engines were used up to kill the blaze.
