MANILA, Philippines — Beginning June 1, two more programs of Vice President Leni Robredo’s office – the provision of medical and burial assistance – will be suspended.
In a post on its the official Facebook page, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) said the two programs would be suspended as they prepare for the transition to the incoming administration.
Earlier, the OVP announced that its Bayanihan E-Konsulta project will conclude its services on May 31. Bayanihan E-Konsulta is a telemedicine platform initiated by Robredo, her office, and medical and non-medical volunteers at the height of increasing COVID-19 infections in the country.
“Bilang paghahanda sa pagpasok ng susunod na administrasyon, ihihinto muna ng Tanggapan ng Pangalawang Pangulo ang pagtanggap ng mga aplikasyon para sa medical at burial assistance simula 01 June 2022,” the OVP said in a statement.
“Ito po ay upang maging maayos ang pag-transition at pag-turnover ng programa sa susunod na bise presidente,” it added.
OVP also said that announcements would be made if there are developments in the suspension of the programs.
“Makakaasa po kayong babalikan kayo agad ng Tanggapan para sa mga updates ukol dito,” OVP said.
“Muli, taos-pusong pasasalamat sa inyong tiwala sa Tanggapan ng Pangalawang Pangulo. Isang malaking karangalan po sa amin na kayo ay mapagsilbihan,” it added.
Congress has yet to proclaim the winners in the May 9 presidential and vice presidential race. But based on the results coming out of the Commission on Election’s transparency server, Sara Duterte-Carpio is leading the contest for vice president with more than 31.55 million votes as of May 11.
On May 13, Robredo’s spokesperson Atty. Barry Gutierrez assured that they would be ready for a transition with whoever is proclaimed as the new vice president.
