OLONGAPO CITY–The city government here will begin administering second booster shots against COVID-19 to healthcare workers and senior citizens on Tuesday (May 24), an official said.
Dr. Rodrick Bustamante, chief of the City Health Office, said the local health unit is expecting over 56,000 residents who are eligible to receive the second booster shot four months after receiving their first booster shot.
Bustamante said second booster shots would help strengthen immunity against the viral disease since the primary series of the vaccine could already be within the “waning period.”
He said the city has enough supply for the second booster shots coming from the regional office of the Department of Health.
The government had initially given the second booster shots to immunocompromised individuals in the past weeks.
