08:24 AM March 12, 2012

AROUND 40 street children from Cebu and Mandaue cities were given a free haircut, clothes and meals by the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) yesterday morning.

Also, around 30 policemen and police auxiliary groups from the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN) and ‘Trackers’ participated in a blood letting program by the Philippine Red Cross.

The activities were held as part of the birthday celebration of Chief Insp. Michael Anthony Bastes, chief of the Intelligence and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) of the MCPO.

At least 200 indigent families in Mandaue City were also given food.

It was the fourth time that Bastes spearheaded such activities during his birthday.

It started when he was still the chief of the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) of the Cebu City Police Office in 2008.

The project continued even after Bastes was transferred to the Fuente Police Station where he served as chief of police. He later moved to the MCPO.

Capping the activities is a simple celebration of the police official’s birthday at the MCPO headquarters./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
