COTABATO CITY––Government forces killed two alleged drug peddlers, arrested two others, and seized P204,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) during an operation Thursday in Pigcawayan town, Cotabato province.

Naravy Duquiatan, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 12, identified one of those who died as Ebrahim Samama, a high-value target in the Soccsksargen region.

He said Samama and a certain Mamako opened fire at the joint police and military team serving the warrant against Samama, one of more than 60 detainees who bolted out of the Cotabato provincial jail in Kidapawan City in 2017.

Duquiatan said the raiding team was also about to search Samama’s house in Barangay Balacayon, Pigcawayan when Samama and Mamako resisted and opened fire.

Two of Samama’s followers–Guiahed Akmad and Ali Kamsa–surrendered to the raiding team and detained at the Pigcawayan Municipal Police Station lock-up cell.

Aside from shabu (crystal meth) worth more than P204,000, the raiding team also recovered two M16 Armalite rifles, an M14 rifle, two 45-caliber pistols, a military Kevlar helmet, and a bullet-proof vest, according to Duquiatan.
