MANILA, Philippines — More than 88 percent of all certificates of canvass (COCs) containing votes cast for president and vice president has been delivered to the Senate days before Congress begins its canvassing.
The upper chamber has received 153 or 88.44 percent of the total 173 COCs as of 7:03 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau (PRIB).
The COCs recently transmitted to the Senate are those from Sulu, the United States, and Australia.
The Senate is set to transfer the COCs and election returns to the House of Representatives at dawn on May 23, the Senate PRIB said.
The two chambers of Congress, which will convene as the National Board of Canvassers, will begin canvassing the presidential and vice-presidential votes on May 24.
The canvassing proper will begin at 2 p.m. According to a previous press release from the House of Representatives from May 25 to 27, canvassing shall be done from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
