2 soldiers hurt in clash with NPA rebels in Northern Samar
TACLOBAN CITY––Two soldiers were wounded Monday after armed men suspected to be New People’s Army (NPA) members attacked them in Mapanas town, Northern Samar.
Corporal Gerilla was hit on his right foot, while PFC Silao was injured on his left arm.
The soldiers were in the vicinity of Barangay Pangudtan in Mapanas at 6:26 a.m. when they encountered about 10 suspected rebels.
The encounter resulted in a 10-minute firefight.
The wounded soldiers were airlifted and brought to a nearby health facility.
