MANILA, Philippines — Presumptive senator Raffy Tulfo wants to join the majority bloc of the Senate, saying this would give him better chances of pushing for his advocacies that would benefit Filipinos.
While he ran as an independent candidate, Tulfo was included in the senatorial slate of running mates Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
“Independent [candidate] po pero at the same time, gusto ko po sumama sa majority bloc dahil kapag sa majority bloc po tayo, mas marami po akong maisusulong na polisiya ko na gusto kong maisabatas,” he said on TeleRadyo’s Kabayan.
(I am an independent candidate but at the same time, I want to join the majority bloc because there, I can push for more policies that I can legislate.)
However, if there are matters that do not agree with his advocacies, Tulfo gave assurance that he will not just agree with the majority bloc.

“Pero it doesn’t mean kapag ako ay nasa majority, a-agree na lang po ako sa lahat ng bagay. Pero kung mayroong mga bagay na hindi agreeable sa akin at sa aking adbokasiya, I might abstain,” he added.
(But it doesn’t mean that if I’m in the majority, I will just agree with all things. If there are things that are not agreeable with me and my advocacies, I might abstain.)
Based on the partial and unofficial electronically transmitted results as of Wednesday evening, Tulfo ranked third in the senatorial race, garnering 23.1 million votes.
