TAGBILARAN CITY—The Commission on Elections has proclaimed Maria Vanessa Cadorna-Aumentado as the first congresswoman of the second district of Bohol on Tuesday afternoon, May 11.

Aumentado will replace her husband Erico Aristotle who will serve as governor of Bohol province.

Aumentado won against Jaja Jumamoy, a pilot and a former board member.

Aumentado got 138,266 votes while Jumamoy received 92,728.

Bohol’s second district has 346 barangays.

As a registered nurse and Miss Bohol 2001,  Aumentado said she will focus on health, tourism, youth and agriculture.

“I feel the pressure because I am a neophyte. But I am confident I can bring the services to the second district of Bohol,” she said.  “I will serve the people with competence, commitment, passion and dedication.”

Aumentado had organized projects and relief operations for Odette (international name: Rai) which devastated Bohol in December 2021. She also organized “Kaya Nato Tabang Para sa Luzon Movement” which helped the victims of typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.
