MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Tuesday conceded to former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., referring to him as “president-elect” as he called on the Filipino people to cooperate with the next administration and stay out of any “disturbance” to challenge the latter’s apparent landslide victory.
“We are seeing that the people have made their choice. At this moment, I congratulate former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos for leading, and maintaining his lead, and I hope it can be official soon, so we can all have peace … for having been chosen by the greater majority of the people,” he said in a Facebook live broadcast.
The Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer repeatedly urged his supporters and followers to “unite and help the new leader picked by our people.”
“President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte … will not be successful if we do not cooperate. Thank God we still have democracy. Each of us has the responsibility to help and cooperate with the next administration’s aims. Let’s not be part of any chaos, trouble, disturbance or disagreement,” he said in Filipino.
Addressing Marcos, the 47-year-old mayor said: “I wish you all the best. As an ordinary citizen, we will cooperate and will not cause any disturbance with the people.”
“In a matter of a few days, I will be Citizen Isko, not Yorme,” he said.
