Isko Moreno concedes to Bongbong Marcos in 2022 presidential polls
MANILA, Philippines — Manila City mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has conceded to leading presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the 2022 presidential elections.
“Mayroon na pong pinili ang taumbayan. Sa kasalukuyan ay nais kong batiin si dating Senador Ferdinand Marcos sa kanyang pangunguna at patuloy na pangunguna… Congratulations po sa inyo,” Moreno said during his Special Report program.
Since the release of the partial and unofficial results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday night, Moreno has consistently placed fourth — behind former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Vice President Leni Robredo, and Senator Manny Pacquiao.
After casting his vote at the Magat Salamat Elementary School in Tondo on Monday, Moreno insisted his “decision was correct to run for president.”
“We saw how our compatriots in different corners of our country were deprived of progress. Sad to say but it’s true,” Moreno said.
“As I said in my miting de avance, my decision was correct to run for president to offer an option to the long conflict between reds and yellows,” he added, alluding to the camp of Marcos and Robredo.
