Jeannie Sandoval proclaimed as Malabon’s first female mayor

MANILA, Philippines — Jeannie Sandoval is now Malabon City’s first female mayor after a close fight with her rival Enzo Oreta.

Based on 100% of election returns, Sandoval got 94,826 votes, which is 1,279 votes more than what Councilor Enzo Oreta gained with 93,547 votes.

This is based on the Commission on Elections’ transparency server.

“Nadinig po ang boses ng taumbayan and we’re looking forward to serving the people. Muli, maraming maraming salamat sa mga nakasama natin sa laban, mga sumuporta at hindi natakot na ipaglaban ang dapat ay para sa Malabon,” Sandoval said in a Facebook post on her proclamation.

In the 2019 elections, Sandoval ran for the same position but lost to Lenlen Oreta.

She used to be the city government’s vice mayor.

Meanwhile, Oreta’s running mate, Ninong dela Cruz, won against Jayjay Yambao in the vice-mayoral race. They garnered 98,060 and 79,019 votes, respectively.
