Re-electionist Mayor Roberto Del Mundo/ Photo from Palawan Council for Sustainable Development
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Re-electionist Mayor Roberto Del Mundo won by an eight-point lead against opponent Boy Ornopia, 212-204, reclaiming the local chief executive post in the island town of Kalayaan in this city.
The proclamation was held early Tuesday morning (around 1 a.m.) according to Commission on Elections (Comelec) Kalayaan election officer Emmanuel Gacott.
Billy Alindogan won as vice mayor, while the municipal councilors were Nonie Gapuz, Eugenio Bito-onon, Zel Belidan, Nonelon Balbontin, Vicencio Milan, Abet Llavan, Bors Asiado, and MP Albayda.
Del Mundo is on his third and final term as Kalayaan town mayor.
His win came despite facing sexual harassment suits filed by former municipal employees whom he allegedly dismissed for rejecting sexual advances.
