MANILA, Philippines — House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar won anew as the representative of the lone district of Las Piñas City, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
Villar, who sought reelection and ran under the Nacionalista Party, received 130,812 or some 60 percent of the votes.
“That after such canvass, it appears that Villar, Camille (NP) (NACIONALISTA PARTY) garnered 130,812 votes legally for the office of MEMBER, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, the same being the highest number of votes legally cast for said office,” the Comelec’s certificate of canvass read.
“On the basis of the foregoing, we hereby proclaim the above-named winning candidate as the duly elected MEMBER, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, NCR-CITY OF LAS PIÑAS – LONE LEGDIST,” it added.
Meanwhile, Villar’s opponents, Louie Redoble and Felipe Garduque II garnered 65,751 and 18,249 votes, respectively.
Villar is the daughter of Senator Cynthia Villar and former senator Manny Villar.
