Name corrupt DepEd official, Pacquiao told
The Department of Education (DepEd) on Sunday urged presidential candidate Sen. Manny Pacquiao to name the DepEd official whom he claimed to be corrupt and get a 40-percent commission of the project cost instead of “putting down” the entire institution.
During a forum on Friday, Pacquiao alleged that the deteriorating quality of education in the Philippines was due to the mishandling of DepEd’s allocated budget.
“I am just not speaking but I am well-aware of what’s happening in there … I don’t want to reveal it now [but] when the time comes, I already know how to investigate and correct,” he said.
“I even know someone who does not allow a kickback of less than 40 percent,” Pacquiao added.
In response, the DepEd in a statement said that alleging wrongdoing unsupported by specific facts was “tantamount to false accusation.”
